The National Capital Region Transport Corporation is a joint venture between the Government of India and the state governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. It owns and operates the RAPIDX Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) across the National Capital Region (NCR). The Union Cabinet approved the establishment of NCRTC under the Companies Act, 1956, in July 2013. The corporation was officially incorporated on August 21, 2013. In July 2016, Mr. Vinay Kumar Singh was appointed as its first Managing Director.
The seed capital of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) was equally shared between the Government of India and the participating state governments, with each contributing 50%. Within the Government of India’s share, the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Railways each contributed 22.5%, while the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) provided the remaining 5%. The remaining 50% was collectively contributed by the four partner states—Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana—each of which contributed 12.5%. This balanced funding structure reflects the collaborative nature of the NCRTC as a joint initiative to enhance regional connectivity in the National Capital Region.
