The Meerut Metro project is an urban mass transport system, which has been under construction since 8th March 2019 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the project’s initiation with the foundation stone. The Meerut City is under the Uttar Pradesh State of India.

The metro train project of Meerut is divided into two phases, the first phase is from Meerut South to Modipuram and the second phase is from Shradhapuri Phase II to Jagriti Vihar. The ownership of the metro in Meerut is National Capital Transport Corporation (NCTRC) and Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL).

There are a total of 25 stations in Meerut Metro. Phase 1 of the metro project has 13 stations with a route of 23.60 km (14.70 mi), and it is under construction. Phase 2 of the project has 12 stations having a route of 15 KM (9.30 mi), it is proposed and the construction has not yet started. Phase 1 has a total length of 23.60 KM, of which the elevated is 14.80 KM and 8.80 KM is the underground route.
