Victoria Park, Meerut

Victoria Park, located in the heart of Meerut district, is a site of profound historical significance, deeply intertwined with the early chapters of India’s freedom struggle. On April 24, 1857, it was here that 85 courageous Indian soldiers rose in defiance against British rule—an act that marked one of the first sparks of the revolt. In a harsh retaliation, the British stripped the soldiers of their uniforms and paraded them through the city like prisoners, attempting to crush their spirit.

Today, Victoria Park stands as a solemn tribute to these brave hearts, with their names etched on a commemorative plaque within the park grounds. Now also known as Bhamashah Park, the site beautifully blends its historical legacy with modern utility. It is home to a vibrant cricket club and serves as a space for community events, reflecting both remembrance and recreation.
