Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail Completion Date

The Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail project is approximately 82.15 km long approx. 51.05 mi connecting the NCR cities of Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut, the project is managed by NCRTC and is designed to allow a maximum speed of 180 km/h, which covers the distance between Meerut to Delhi in less than 60 minutes.

The Delhi Meerut Rapid Metro project cost is US$ 3.6 billion, up to Rs. 30,274 crore in Indian Rupees. The 1st Rapid Metro Station is Jangpura in New Delhi and the last Rapid Metro station is Modipuram in Meerut. Here is the Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail Completion Date

Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail Start Date

  • The foundation stone of the project was laid by PM Narendra Modi in March 2019.
  • The 17 km long corridor from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot was started on 20th October 2023.
  • The corridor was then extended to Modinagar North.
  • The Duhai Depot to Modinagar North corridor become operational by 6th March 2024.
  • The Meerut South Rapid Rail Station became operational on 18th August 2024.
  • The New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar RRTS Stations become operational on 5th January 2025.
  • The Meerut Metro service was inaugurated from Shatabdi Nagar Station on 22nd February 2026.
  • Along with the Meerut Metro inauguration, the remaining Rapid Rail stations were also opened for passengers.
  • The Sarai Kale Khan, Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul and Modipuram RRTS stations became operational on the same day.
  • With this inauguration, the Delhi–Meerut RRTS corridor became almost fully operational.
  • Now only the Jangpura RRTS Station remains pending, which is expected to open soon.

Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail Completion Date

Currently, the operational length of the corridor is about 82 km from Sarai Kale Khan Rapid Rail Station to Modipuram Rapid Rail Station. Most of the Delhi–Meerut Rapid Rail corridor is now operational, providing fast connectivity between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut.

Sarai Kale Khan has already been completed and serves as the first station of the corridor on the Delhi side. It will act as a major transport hub with connectivity to railway, bus, and other transit systems.

At present, the only station yet to become operational is Jangpura RRTS Station, which lies between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar. Once this station opens, the entire Delhi–Meerut RRTS corridor will be fully operational.
