Meerut South Metro Station

The Meerut Metro project had been under planning since 2016, when Rail India Technical and Economic Services (RITES) prepared and submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the state government. On 8 March 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the project along with the Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). Construction work began in June 2019, and after several phases of development, the Meerut Metro was officially inaugurated on 22 February 2026.

The Meerut Metro project progressed rapidly during construction. Initially, operations were planned to begin in June 2025, but the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) accelerated the work to launch the metro earlier. A major milestone was achieved on 12 January 2025 when trial runs started between Meerut South and Meerut Central stations. After successful testing and system integration, the Meerut Metro was officially inaugurated and started its operations.

Meerut South Metro Station serves passengers for both the Namo Bharat (RRTS) and the Meerut Metro. The station first became operational for the RRTS service on 18 August 2024. Later, with the inauguration of the Meerut Metro on 22 February 2026, the station also started serving metro passengers, making it an important interchange point in the corridor.

The station code of Meerut South Meerut Metro Station is A10. It is located on NH-34 at Bhood Baral, Uttar Pradesh (250103). The station is an elevated structure and is owned and operated by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

Meerut South station provides interchange facilities between the Meerut Metro and the Namo Bharat train, allowing passengers to easily switch between the two services. The station is equipped with two entry and exit gates along with modern passenger facilities.
