A key milestone was reached on January 12, 2025, with the commencement of trial runs between Meerut South and Meerut Central stations.

The Metro Station of Meerut South will serve the public for both RRTS and Meerut Metro; the station was operational for the RRTS from 18th August 2025, and for the Meerut Metro, it is expected that it will become active before June 2025.

According to NCRTC officials, the process is underway. It is expected that the minimum fare for Metro in Meerut can be 15 to 20 rupees, and the maximum can be 80 to 100 rupees. The official fare chart will be announced before the start of operations.
