NCRTC Achievements
NCRTC Honoured with UITP International Award for Namo Bharat Corridor
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has received the prestigious UITP Award in the ‘Public and Urban Transport Strategy’ category for its Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor at the 2025 UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Hamburg, Germany. This award recognises NCRTC’s strategic approach in providing a sustainable, high-speed, and inclusive transit solution to tackle urban mobility challenges in the National Capital Region. With features like ETCS Level 2 Hybrid Level 3 signalling, gender-sensitive infrastructure, and over 40% women in operations roles, the corridor sets global benchmarks in modern regional transit.
The Namo Bharat corridor is designed to reduce private vehicle dependence and curb pollution by offering an efficient and commuter-centric alternative. NCRTC’s sustainability measures include sourcing 70% of traction energy from renewables, rooftop solar installations, and rainwater harvesting systems. Transit Oriented Development (TOD) initiatives along the corridor have also spurred significant real estate growth, aligning with city masterplans. With 55 km of the 82 km corridor already operational, this award reinforces NCRTC’s leadership in advancing inclusive, future-ready public transport solutions.
NCRTC Bags Three Honours at ET Infra Rail Show Awards 2025
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) was recognized under three key categories—‘Best Integrated Property Development/Transit Oriented Development’, ‘Best Project Delivery Timeline for MRTS/RRTS’, and ‘Best Track Laying Performance’—at the prestigious ET Infra Rail Show Awards 2025. NCRTC’s adoption of advanced precast slab track technology has been pivotal in enabling Namo Bharat trains to run at 160 kmph operational speed for over 1.5 years, ensuring high reliability, comfort, and minimal maintenance. This system not only supports rapid construction but also enhances the long-term efficiency and stability of India’s first semi high-speed regional rail.
The fast-paced and timely implementation of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, despite challenges like COVID-19, earned NCRTC the award for Project Delivery Timeline. With 55 km and 11 stations currently operational and full commissioning of the 82 km corridor scheduled within the set timeline, NCRTC has demonstrated exemplary project management. Its efforts in Transit Oriented Development (TOD) were also lauded, especially in Meerut, which became the first city to incorporate TOD zones into its Master Plan (2031). This integrated planning approach, in coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government, showcases NCRTC’s commitment to building sustainable urban ecosystems around high-speed transit corridors.
