Delhi Meerut Expressway

Delhi Meerut Expressway is one of India’s most important high-speed road infrastructure projects, connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Meerut through a modern access-controlled expressway. Also known as National Expressway 3 (NE-3), the Delhi–Meerut Expressway has significantly reduced travel time between Delhi and Meerut while improving regional connectivity across the National Capital Region (NCR).

Developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the expressway stretches approximately 96 kilometres and is designed to support high-speed travel with world-class road infrastructure, multiple lanes, service roads, flyovers, underpasses, and smart traffic systems. The project was developed in multiple phases and has become a major transportation corridor for daily commuters, business travellers, and tourists.

The Delhi Meerut Expressway starts from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and passes through important locations including Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Dasna, Modinagar, and Partapur before reaching Meerut. The expressway has greatly reduced the average travel time between Delhi and Meerut from nearly 3 hours to around 45–60 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

Apart from improving road travel, the Delhi–Meerut Expressway has also boosted real estate growth, commercial development, logistics connectivity, and industrial expansion across cities along the corridor. Areas near the expressway, especially in Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut, have witnessed rapid infrastructure and business growth due to improved accessibility.

The expressway runs parallel to several important transport projects including the Delhi–Meerut RRTS (Namo Bharat Corridor), making it one of the most strategically important mobility corridors in North India. With smooth road connectivity, reduced congestion, and better travel efficiency, the Delhi Meerut Expressway continues to play a major role in transforming regional transportation in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi NCR.
