The Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail project is owned by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and it is operated by DB RRTS Operation India Private Limited. It is 82.15 KM partly operated and partly under construction line with 16 stations from Jangpura, Delhi to Modipuram, Meerut.
It will run parallel to National Highway 24 and intersect with the Delhi Metro at stations like Nizamuddin/Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, and Ghaziabad. Of the entire length, 68.03 KM (42.27 mi) will be elevated, 14.12 KM (8.77 mi) will be underground and 1.45 km (0.90mi) will be at grade for connections to two depots, to be located in Duhai and Modipuram.

Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail Start Date
There are four phases in Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail, the 1st phase is from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, the 2nd phase is from Duhai Depot to Meerut South, the 3rd phase is from Sarai Kale Khan to Sahibabad and the 4th phase is from Meerut South to Modipuram Depot. Sahibabad to Duhai Depot
The first phase of the Delhi Meerut RRTS is from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, it is a 17 km (11 mi) long priority corridor. It was first expected to become operational in March 2023 but it got delayed due to pending work at some stations especially at Ghaziabad RRTS station. After completion of all work, PM Narendra Modi inaugurated phase 1 of Delhi Meerut RRTS on 20 October 2023 and now it is operational.
Duhai Depot to Meerut South
The second phase of the Delhi Meerut RRTS is from Duhai Depot to Meerut South. On 6th March 2024, phase 2 of the RRTS project was partially inaugurated and became operational from Duhai Depot to Modinagar North. On 18th August 2024, the full phase became operational from Duhai Depot to Meerut South and now the operational length of Delhi Meerut RRTS is 42 kilometers.
Delhi Meerut Rapid Rail Start Date- From Modinagar North to Meerut South, the new 8 km route became operational on 18th August 2024. Now the Delhi Meerut Rapid Metro is running from Sahibabad to Meerut South RRTS Station.
Sarai Kale Khan to Sahibabad
The 3rd phase of the corridor is from Sarai Kale Khan to Sahibabad. This section was under construction and was earlier expected to become operational by December 2024. However, due to some unavoidable conditions, the full section could not be opened at that time. As a result, the stretch from New Ashok Nagar to Sahibabad became operational on 5 January 2025. Later, the Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station was also completed and officially started operations on Sunday, 22 February 2026.
Meerut South to Modipuram Depot
The 4th phase of the corridor is from Meerut South to Modipuram Depot. This section was under construction and was expected to become operational by August 2025, along with the Meerut Metro project. The first station of this phase, Meerut South, started operations on 18 August 2024. The remaining stations of the Meerut section were later completed and officially started operations on Sunday, 22 February 2026.
