The Nauchandi Fair has a rich tradition spanning hundreds of years, with its inauguration traditionally taking place on the second Sunday after Holi. This historic fair is celebrated as a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity. As per custom, the fair begins with a ritualistic puja at the Chandi Devi Temple, followed by the offering of a chadar at the dargah of Wale Miyan. Only after these ceremonies is the fair officially inaugurated. The grandeur and cultural significance of the Nauchandi Fair are such that it is often featured in various competitive examinations.

In 2025, the Nauchandi Fair in Meerut was inaugurated on Sunday, March 23 traditionally. However, an official announcement regarding the full commencement date of the fair is still awaited. During the inauguration, officials performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony following the rituals, after which pigeons and white balloons were released into the sky. The fair continues to be a cherished event, symbolizing harmony, brotherhood, and unity, eagerly awaited by the people of Meerut each year.

Due to the tense atmosphere on the border, the famous Nauchandi Fair of Meerut was postponed for the time being. This historic fair was scheduled to start on May 15, with dates fixed between May 20 and May 25. However, a storm that struck on the night of May 21 destroyed the fair premises. The swings and other fair materials set up in the fair premises were damaged.

Nauchandi Mela Meerut 2025 Date– The wait for the Nauchandi fair is finally over, and on 26 May, the Nagar Nigam organised a Mata Ki Chowki in Patel Mandap, where the chief guest, in-charge minister Dharampal Singh, lit the lamp and inaugurated the fair. Earlier, the fair was scheduled to start on 28 May, but suddenly it started on 26 May as per the minister’s programme. Even now, the fair is filled with water at many places, and the shops and swings have not been set up properly..

The DM of Meerut said that CCTV cameras should be arranged for the security of the fair. Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Gangwar, CDO Nupur Goyal, ADM Administration Balram Singh, ADM City Brajesh Singh, ADM Finance Suryakant Tripathi, SP City Ayush Vikram Singh, SP Traffic Raghavendra Mishra, and DIOS Rajesh Kumar were present at the meeting.

The Nauchandi Fair is widely regarded as a symbol of brotherhood, goodwill, and unity. Residents of the city eagerly await its arrival each year. Recognizing its cultural importance, the government has designated it as a provincial fair. Under this arrangement, the event is organized alternately by the District Panchayat and the Municipal Corporation. This year, the responsibility for organizing the fair has been assigned to the Municipal Corporation.
