To ensure a seamless and convenient travel experience for Namo Bharat commuters, NCRTC is enhancing last-mile connectivity alongside providing high-speed train services. In coordination with Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), NCRTC has initiated the integration of air-conditioned electric city buses with Namo Bharat stations.
The collaboration between NCRTC and DTC aims to promote the use of public transportation by enhancing first and last-mile connectivity. This shift from private to public transport is expected to help reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution in the long run.
Three Key Routes Identified for Integration
Initially, three key routes have been identified that connect with the operational stations—New Ashok Nagar and Anand Vihar—on the Delhi section of the corridor. Buses on one of these routes originate directly from the New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat Station.
Dedicated Stops at Namo Bharat Stations
These electric buses operate along their regular routes but now include designated stops at Namo Bharat stations’ dedicated drop-off lanes, enabling easy boarding and deboarding for passengers. The three identified routes are:
- New Ashok Nagar Namo Bharat Station to Anand Vihar ISBT
- Anand Vihar ISBT to Ashok Nagar Border
- Ashok Nagar Border to Mayur Vihar Phase-3 Paper Market
Wide Area Coverage with Extended Operational Hours
Running between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM, these buses connect areas such as Chilla Village, Sapera Basti, New Kondli, Dallupura, Ghazipur Village and Mandi, Dharmshila Crossing, and Trilok Puri with the Namo Bharat network. This has made high-speed travel to Ghaziabad and Meerut more accessible for residents in East Delhi.
This initiative is part of NCRTC’s larger effort to promote fast and eco-friendly travel solutions. While e-rickshaws and services like Rapido are already operational at several stations in Ghaziabad, the addition of electric buses under the DEVI Bus Scheme (Delhi Electric Vehicle Interchange Scheme) is a significant step forward.
Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor Update
Currently, 55 km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor—from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South—is operational with 11 stations. Trial runs are ongoing on remaining sections between Sarai Kale Khan & New Ashok Nagar and Meerut South & Modipuram. NCRTC is working toward making the entire 82 km corridor fully operational within this year.
