Meerut Metro Station Name Expected Phases
The first corridor of the Meerut Metro, stretching from Bhudbaral (Meerut South) to Modipuram Depot, is expected to be operational soon. Following this, a new DPR (Detailed Project Report) will be prepared for the upcoming corridors. At present, special provisions are being implemented for the metro corridor during the ongoing construction works on Garh Road. Under the CM Grid Scheme, the road widening project includes wider dividers to accommodate future metro pillars, along with additional space reserved for metro cables.
Earlier, RITES Limited had prepared DPRs for two corridors. While the first has already been finalized, the second was proposed from Shatrapuri Phase-2 to Gokulpur village via Hapur Adda crossing. Before construction began, certain changes were made to the first phase, and further modifications are also possible in the next phases.
Member of Parliament Arun Govil has placed a demand before the Chief Minister for a second corridor. He has also proposed a third corridor from Football Chowk to Baghpat Road Flyover.
Due to these new developments, the DPR for the second corridor will be revised. Instead of starting from Shatrapuri, the plan is now being considered to extend the corridor from Begumpul to Gokulpur or even further.
